Usually when videos like this say, "People misunderstood... " What they usually mean is, Americans specifically. Ignored the truth of the subject matter to stare at the shiny lights and distraction in the foreground. (or perhaps those who don't have English as their first language, which is actually fair for them)

The problem for this period of Eminem, and the reason why everyone thinks he went pop, is because the songs that got the most airtime were “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie,” both of which are boring pop songs, so everybody assumed Eminem’s entire album was that vibe. Relapse and Recovery were decent albums, but only the two pop songs got media attention.

Relapse was the last raw Eminem album before he updated his image. It was a horrorcore classic, lyricism was hard and overall a technical masterpiece. Relapse was only about the music, Recovery was to get him back on top.

Am I crazy or was Same Song and Dance not mentioned in this ? That’s wild because it’s easily one of the best songs on the album. And Eminem’s habit of leaving some of the best tracks off his albums is perhaps most egregious with Relapse. My Darling is phenomenal and to this day I’m baffled at it not making the album.

Just the fact that the accents he raps in make him sound more insane and just add to the craziness of the album.

The problem with it is first of all it doesn't sound good. It sounds like he doesn't even really want to be there. Bars are weird. Second of all the constant accents Just completely take you away from any theme of the album and thirdly nobody asked for it and I'm not saying that he shouldn't have done that. Wayne had his little weird. Where he was doing weird stuff. But he could have made it more enjoyable. He could have tackled the same themes and made it way enjoyable by a milestone. But if you people like it, that's cool. It's just not a good album in my opinion. Cool concept but terrible delivery

Growing up I was big into eminem. I remember when relapse was still new and I bumped it a lot. However it’s undoubtedly just not up to snuff of his older stuff. I occasionally will go back to a song from relapse onward. But I still listen to a lot of his first three albums all the time, they’re in my daily playlists. It’s hard to live up to those instant classics. I understand that and I respect eminem for being able to change things up and stay relevant. For what it is, relapse was a really great dive into a side of eminem we’ve never seen. However I’d be lying if I said I don’t just want a blonde white boy saying fuck you to the world while getting drunk and causing mayhem.

I don't think its too odd to say you like the sound of a specific record label, if its a smaller one anyway. Indie labels a lot of times have their own roster that people tend to listen to. I'm old so I remember getting indie record label compilation CDs for cheap that gave you a taste of all their artists.
